The Black Shed – Trevone Bay

ModBox have been commissioned to build a ‘Prestigious property’ in the most stunning location of Trevone Bay. Our client has very discerning taste and as such, this property will be something special. an added complication is that the client lives in the southern hemisphere, so she really needed to work with a team that she could trust. Having built a property for her 8 years ago, which, not only came in on time and within budget, it also met her exacting standards.

THE development

The Black Shed has been designed to be a Contemporary new home, with views over Harlyn Bay, Mother Ivy Bay and around to Booby Bay. The new property will have four double bedrooms and a reverse living lounge that makes full use of the stunning vista over the peninsula and a stones throw away from Trevone bay beach and some of Cornwall’s best restaurants.

THE accommodation

The Property utilizes a ‘reverse living’ approach, with a large lounge overlooking the Seven Bay. The finished home will be a four double bedrooms, four bathroom, reverse living property. The main entrance to the property is next to the large double garage, which also allows direct access to the main house and benefits from a utility room and shower room, idea to clean & store those sand filled wet suit’s, after a long day on the beach.

THE location

Living in Trevone Bay, Cornwall offers a unique blend of coastal charm, natural beauty, and a relaxed lifestyle that appeals to families, retirees, and holidaymakers alike. Nestled just two miles from Padstow on the rugged North Cornish coast, Trevone Bay is a small village with a big personality—boasting stunning beaches, excellent eateries, and easy access to some of Cornwall’s most iconic attractions.

Natural Beauty & Outdoor Living

One of the most compelling reasons to live in Trevone Bay is its spectacular natural setting. The village is home to two distinct beaches:

  • Porthmissen Beach, a sandy Blue Flag beach ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, and family days out. It’s lifeguarded in summer and backed by golden cliffs and rolling fields.
  • Newtrain Beach, or “Rocky Beach,” is a haven for rock-poolers and nature lovers, with slate formations and a large tidal pool known as Tinker Bunny’s Bathing Pool—a local gem for wild swimming
  • The South West Coast Path runs through Trevone, offering breathtaking walks to nearby Padstow, Harlyn Bay, and beyond. The area is also home to the dramatic Round Hole, an 80-foot blowhole formed by a collapsed sea cave, adding geological intrigue to the landscapeCommunity & Lifestyle

Despite its small size, Trevone has a strong sense of community and a peaceful, village-like atmosphere. It’s far enough from the tourist hotspots to avoid the crowds, yet close enough to enjoy the amenities of Padstow and other nearby towns. The village is well-connected, with Bodmin Parkway station just 40 minutes away and Newquay Airport within a 25-minute drive

Trevone is also a great base for exploring National Trust propertiesBodmin Moor, and Cornish heritage sites, making it ideal for those who enjoy history, walking, and nature.

Dining & Local Cuisine

Food lovers will find plenty to enjoy in and around Trevone Bay. While the village itself has a popular beach café and shop, the surrounding area is a culinary hotspot:

  • St. Petroc’s Bistro in Padstow offers French-inspired dishes using local Cornish produce. With a secret garden and dog-friendly dining, it’s a favourite for both locals and visitors

  • The Cornish Arms, a traditional pub in nearby St Merryn, serves hearty British classics, woodfired pizzas, and Sunday roasts. Its large beer garden and family-friendly vibe make it a great casual option.
  • The Lobster Shed at Harlyn Bay is a laid-back, alfresco seafood spot known for its wood-roasted lobster, grilled meats, and chilled rosé. It’s perfect for summer evenings and group gatherings.

In summary, Trevone Bay is a coastal haven that combines natural beauty, a welcoming community, and access to some of Cornwall’s best food and beaches. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful place to retire, a family-friendly environment, or a scenic base for outdoor adventures, Trevone Bay offers a lifestyle that’s hard to beat.
